Apple Watch vs. FitBit Sense

I really want to monitor my heart, sleeping, and steps. The FitBit Sense is $199 on Prime Day, but the Apple Watch isn't much more than that.
Anyone know any pros and cons of each?

If have any other Apple devices, get the Apple Watch.

Yeah, and I had several iterations of the Fitbits. First one I got you couldn't replace the band, and it started tearing up. They didn't sell that one anymore, so offered me a pretty steep discount on a similar model. It died after a year, out of warranty, and I ended up buying one of the newer models that looked more like a smart watch. It would give me text alerts and other things, but couldn't actually interact on the watch itself. We got our daughter an Apple Watch Series 3 for her birthday that year, and I ended up buying one for me as well. 2.5 years later and I still love it. Only downside is battery life. The fitbit would go a week on a charge, but the Apple watch is a cellular model and I have to charge every other day or so. Most people say they charge it at night, but one of the main features I like is the alarm clock to wake me up, so I just top it off in the evenings before going to bed most days.

I've had flagship FitBits and Garmins and others. If the Apple Watch fits your needs it's the best. Others have improved a lot, but it's the easiest. When you're dealing with a wearable you want to fit into your life full time, the most reliable, widely-used and simplistic option is the one you want IMO.

I like the Fitbits and have had a couple of versions of the Versas. I'm mostly interested in the body metrics and tracking of these devices so stuff like texting or calling or listening to music from the watch I can't really speak on although it is available on the Fitbits. The battery life is another huge plus for me. A couple of hours on the charger in the evening is enough to last me 4 or 5 days. Having to charge every day or overnight in lieu of collecting sleep data would be a deal-breaker for me.

Not sure about Fitbits but I like how I only have to charge my Garmin once every week or two...Apple Watch needed to be charged every night, and if you forget, it is worthless....

I use the Apple Watch Series 5 simply because we have so many other damn apple devices (including homepods in the home). However, if I were choosing based on NOT being "locked" in an ecosystem, I'd check out:
1) Garmin (but the good/rugged ones get expensive, quick
2) Suunto (smaller company but widely liked for sports folks including anything with altitude or ocean/diving)

This is the exact reason I have not pulled the trigger on one. I have a garmin watch that is 6 years old now and I still only have to charge it about once every week at the most. Having to charge your watch daily completely defeats the purpose imo.

These workout watches are not meant for everyday use; run, gym only. Apple watch can be worn anywhere. I guess the Apple watch especially if you own an iPhone. (personally I hate the apple watch fad).

Mine is every other day with normal use. Plus it charges pretty quickly. I think 90 minutes it will go from empty to 80%, then trickle until it hits 100%. I'll set it on the charger when I'm fixing dinner and eating, and put it back on afterwards and it is always above 80%.

My FitBit Ionic is acting sporadically, keeps resetting, screen goes dim, dies after showing 50-60% charge. I talked to customer support, after about 2 hours of trouble-shooting, factory reset, they gave up and offered me a 35% off discount code. This is the 2nd FitBit smart watch and I think I'm going to give the Apple Watch 7 a try.

Yeah, I think mine was the Blaze or Ionic, can't remember which. I had it about a year, and really liked it. The only real downside was you couldn't take calls on it, or reply to texts, as that was limited to Android phones only. The new Sense model looks pretty nice too, but it is still limited to Android for full functionality. I know several people who ended up with an Apple Watch, like me, because they liked the fitness/sleep tracking of a Fitbit or similar watch, but wanted to be able to use it with their iPhones.

2) Suunto
The best. I have the Suunto 9 after having the Suunto Core for a long time and nothing comes close.
