Broke the screen on my Series 3 42mm Apple Watch screen yesterday. Been having it for some time. Searched on Apples website, for them to replace the screen it will cost $160. Which is almost the cost for a new one.

I contacted a local repair place and they referred me to contact Apple.

Amazon sells the replacement screen + tools for $30-$60. (Which I’m leaning toward)

Any suggestions?

I sent mine into Apple to get a new battery, they sent me back essentially a new watch. It had new screen, case, etc. Well worth the $ IMO.

ETA: I had a series 5, so it was worth the repair cost in my case. Not sure I’d waste the money if it were a series 3. I couldn’t even update my old series 3 any longer which is why I bought the 5

The cheapest Apple Watch is the 40mm SE @ $249, 279 for the 44mm. You might consider just getting a new one if you don't want to try the self-replacement.

I’ve replaced my Apple Watch screen before. If you wear it to shower or swim, I would not suggest this option. It is very difficult to get a waterproof seal like you get from the factory. I don’t swim or shower with mine, so it has worked out perfectly fine. I figured I’d spend the $30 to try to fix and if it didn’t work just buy a new one as mine is fairly old.

I couldn’t find the exact screen for my watch. Ended up buying a new one.
