I am sticking with iPhone but don’t want to replace my old Apple Watch series 1 with a full cost series 4 or whatever we’re at now. Any decent alternatives with fitness, messaging, and other content capabilities. I know I’m being vague.

Amazon had brand new (non refurb) series 3 apple watches for $200 earlier this week. Looks like they went back up in price a bit but could go down again at some point.

I personally think the stainless steel version of the Apple Watch is a huge upgrade.

I know you can’t message on a Fitbit. You can on android but not iOS. Even then I think it is just quick replies built in to the watch. My Ionic had GPS and you could load a few apps. But nothing near what the Apple Watch has. I bought a series 3 42mm Apple Watch with cellular about a month ago. No experience with any others but thought i would chime in about that Fitbit.

If you have an iPhone, you won't get a better user experience than with your apple watch. Get an older model or refurb. Look on LetGo or facebook marketplace for someone selling theirs.

How heavy? I generally dislike watches, especially if they’re cumbersome to wear. I’m considering an Apple Watch, tho.

Garmin Fenix is a great watch. But as others have said you’ll get a better experience with an iPhone having an Apple Watch. Is what it is. I’m lost without mine at work. It’s the only way I keep up with all the meetings I have daily.

The stainless isn’t noticeably heavy. But it’s $749. Does have sapphire glass though, which I wish they’d just put on all the watches. My Luminox has a sapphire crystal and I’ve put that thing through hell. Was my everyday wear for 4+ years working construction and it got dirty at times. Very dirty. Case is worn in places, but there isn’t a scratch on the crystal. I’d be willing to upgrade from the series 3 to that, but just seems like a lot of money to me.

My wife jumped on that when she bought one for our daughter. When it arrived, my wife tried it on and played around with it. Ended up ordering herself one too. Both at good deals. Theirs are the 38 mm series 3. I was looking for the 42 mm version and found a deal on a Nike series one. Place up in New York called B&H photo. It was under $280. Had to pay tax but no shipping. I wish I had bought one earlier.

Apple Watch series 1

Just upgrade to an old version of the 3. Worth it.
