I hope someone can help me with this new issue I have. Last night my Apple TV just stopped sending audio. I’ve checked all the settings did all kinds of internet searching and nothing. It’s running through an onkyo 373 receiver. Switch to dvd player and all is fine. Have audio and video. Changed hdmi chords and inputs and still no audio. Put in an older Apple TV in its place. Works fine. Put the original one and same issue. Took another one just like it from
The living room that was working fine, plugged it in and same issue. No audio. I’ve been through every setting on the receiver as well. Can’t figure it out.

I had this issue a few weeks ago. Not saying this will resolve it, but I made sure it wasn't linked with any bluetooth devices like headphones/earbuds. Then, on the receiver I changed the speaker output. (A, B, or A+B.) Just selected the proper output. I don't know why, but somehow that "recalibrated" it.

Same as above poster. It may be connecting to something else.

I’ve been through every setting in both the Apple TV and the receiver. I have no idea what the issue is. It’s worked fine for years. Not sure what changed all of a sudden.

Really want to throw it away. Blue ray player works fine. Audio and video. Run that same cable by unplugging it from the back of the bluray and into Appletv. Same issue. No audio. It’s def something not matching the receiver from atv

Turn Bluetooth off then Bypass the receiver and check to see if it works directly on your TV. It could be your receiver even though your blue Ray worked on a different hdmi.

Not to be sarcastic but did you simply unplug and/or hit the reset in the system app on the Apple TV? Nearly every problem I’ve had has been solved by this. Sorry if too simplistic an answer for your setup. Sounds like you got a lot going on there.

Not sarcastic at all. Yes I’ve done that. I’ve factory reset both the receiver and Apple TV. Same thing. I’m wondering if maybe the receiver is just too old for what Apple updated to. It’s not ancient but it’s 6-7 years old and not WiFi enabled. Only thing I can think of

Crazy. After all of that time. I came home. Cut it on and it worked as it should.
