These improvements are impressive but will the average user be able to tell any difference? The 13 pro was already impressive

Edit, with the camera.

Maybe I missed something but I'm not upgrading my phone for an always on display (which android has had for a decade), nor an "island" that shrinks the notch.

Upgrades to the camera but meh... not a pro photographer shooting off of my iphone. Am I missing something?

Only thing I'm wanting is that watch ultra.

We'll see how it works but the island thing looks pretty cool and potentially useful

Not enough for me to upgrade, but solid work from Apple if they've found enough ways to make use of it - and in particular to make things less intrusive/cumbersome to navigate

I care more about battery life than almost every other feature mentioned. The cameras on the pros have been crazy good even since the 12s.

Good price point though.

Honestly, the car crash update to the phones (and watches) + the sat. connectivity (which is on the normal 14) seems like the most useful in the shittiest of situations.

I'd be curious if post-hurricane, you're allowed to use the sat. feature from the phone? My family didn't know if we were injured/hurt in the middle of Hurricane Ida. That would've been nice but not sure it would've even worked after Ida. Who knows?

No I think you're right. I mean those are solid upgrades (iPhone Pro) for a gap year, especially in the current stagnation of this stuff where major improvements are few and far between. But I don't think it's going to sway casual 13 Pro people to upgrade.

The AirPod Pros are the biggest miss for me, it's the epitome of an incremental upgrade and it comes 3 years after the originals.

I don’t think I’ll upgrade any of these products yet. Still got about a year on my current phone to pay off so I guess right in time for iPhone 15, I wouldn’t use most of the ultra features so that’s not worth it for me either.

My next upgrade is my computer which will hopefully be in the October event.

No mention of public release of the new iOS but I guess that will be sometime before they ship the new iPhone

I have an iPhone 11. Just how big a jump would the 14 pro be for me? I am not a pro photographer or anything. Worth an upgrade?

I’m on the beta currently but want to go back to the public version when they release it. Upgrading on a beta is a pain because you can’t restore from a backup.

The camera upgrade from an 11 to a 14 would be worth it IMO even if you aren’t a pro photographer.

Edit, idk how many pro photographers would actually exclusively use an iPhone for their work, while they talk it up it’s good enough for pro photographers, I would think most pro photographers would use actual photo equipment instead of a phone.

Anyone know how the wireless cell service works on the Apple Watch Ultra? They said it was baked into each model so I guess you can add/remove as need be?

Obviously it depends on use, but if you have the need/desire to take a lot of photographs that are better than snapshot quality it's probably worthwhile.

We have little kids, and the quality of phone shots is pretty amazing. People are going to grow up with photo albums of pretty spectacular shots, and while there is a vanity-obsessed aspect of that I'm not in love with, I'm not going to complain about having those memories memorialized in such high quality (video too).

I use my current 13 pro for underwater photography so the upgrades to the camera system are important to me, especially the low level light upgrades. SO I wasn't planning on getting the ultra either till much to my surprise the came out with diving capable. So I'm going down big $$$ Friday.

I guess you could always subsidize your phone with your carrier if you have 1 of the big 3.

Blah. As someone who has a perfectly functional SE 2 I bought two years ago, I was hoping this was either going to be a complete dud or a home run, which would inform whether I upgraded this cycle or next. Ended up with something in between. Now I’ve got to figure out what I want to do

I'm very interested in the Ultra but I'm probably going to wait until some feedback trickles in
