Wife's iphone quit receiving pictures from android devices yesterday. Has been on the phone and is still on the phone with apple trying to figure out whats wrong. She tried all the Google suggestions and then restored the phone. Apple has some 6 digit id or whatever and they wont give it to her to redo the phone. They will only text it to her phone, which obviously doesnt help.

After telling me she was going to choke the stupid b!tch on the phone she got transferred and magically they fixed her phone in like 20 seconds.

Anyone else had this happen, it seems pretty common.

That sounds like the passcode your wife entered herself. Obviously you shouldn't tell her that, but it's kind of not Apple's fault that they make you enter a password to reset your phone.

Ya, I'm with you, but the fact is she didnt even need it to fix the phone. Got on with a supervisor and that dude had it fixed in like 2 minutes. She's been dealing with this all day. Just skip the minion and get to a supervisor.

Apple wouldn't text you your passcode, so it sounds more like the 2-factor authentication code.

Do they really think a code sent to the phone in question really counts as a second factor?

this is pretty much the advice for any tech support situation.

Any time I call, I tell them "I've already done this, this, and this" which I know is going to be the first few things they tell me to try. The intro nerd then usually says "let me get you to our level 2 support team"...

Ya I don't really know since I wasnt on the phone, just know they kept trying to send it to her phone which had been restored and needed the code to open up.

Supervisor got on the phone and was like " Why did they make you do all that?" Got her the code and fixed in less than a minute.

Um, if you can't get into the phone then you can't get the code.

But phones aren't the only way you can get text messages on Apple products.

Did they fix this or not? I frequently have this issue in group texts

Yes, Ill have to ask her what to do.

I'm like 75 percent sure you dont have to restore the phone to fix it.
