Anyone built their own DIY Security System integrated with HA?

Looking at doing a simple security setup for my home that integrates with Home Assistant. Has anyone done their own setup?
I would only have ~3 door sensors and 5 cameras. I currently have my cams through Blue Iris, which I might just keep on there and have the door sensors through HA app.

You've probably found Alarmo but there's a link in case you haven't.

That was my plan, didn't know if anyone had any experience with certain sensors and whatnot. I'm just getting into HA, so we'll see how this goes
I just ordered some Aqara door sensors and a zigbee USB dongle to passthrough to my HA VM. Might just keep Blue Iris around or swap over to Milestone Xprotect

And good luck. It's awesome, but sometimes I wish I had never learned about HA.
To the OP, I have Ring for my alarm system and Blue Iris for my cameras, all integrated into HA. Your setup shouldn't be all that difficult, but happy to try and answer questions should you have them.

So I have an ancient security system that was installed well before I purchased my home, and just came across this
Konnected.io
Got the 12 zone POE version. Looks like this could be a great option for me if I can get it working

If you are going wireless it wouldnt be bad to roll your own in HA.
If going wired, you can go with konnected.io or get a cheap Honeywell or DSC alarm panel + a envisalink module.
My previous house was prewired for sensors and I added a Honeywell panel. Current house had a hardwired DSC system. Both integrate with HA via envisalink. You can use the alarm panel sensors as triggers for any automation.
Ex. When we open our carport port door at night it turns on the carport light for 10 mins.

I use konnected.io with JA and my existing wires ala system.
To say it works awesome would be an understatement.
Took a little tinkering (like anything else in HA) and I toned the wires to figure out which wires were which.
Like another poster said, I have things like door sensors set up to turn on nearby outside lights.
Also have a couple lights with smart motion detectors that will send me a notification if they get motion during certain hours.
Alarm arms/disarms automatically when smart deadbolts are unlocked.
It's awesome.
Can also set up geo fencing to arm alarm when everyone is gone.

Konnected io will be here soon
I'm getting lights added to HA in the meantime and already have my cameras on there for live viewing.
Does anyone have any NVR software they recommend? Not doing anything paid like Blue Iris, and I just want raw footage recorded (don't need anything like motion detection and whatnot). Currently looking at ZoneMinder and Milestone Xprotect, but I'm seeing lots of conflicts with those about recording to local network fileshares

Zoneminder works, but found it was not really intuitive to setting up a camera.
You said you don't want paid, but the $60 one time fee of BI is 100% worth it.

Just wanted to bump this with my update.
I dumped the Konnected since it was going to be an absolute PITA to trace the wiring zones and whatnot, so I went with Aqara sensors on each door and window. I have all of that tied into Alarmo in HA.
I ran an ethernet cable to where my old alarm panel was and setup a Crestron touchscreen to use instead, looks super slick.
I have some cheap in ceiling speakers going back to a sonos ZP80, which I then have all of my audio automations for door chimes and alarm sirens being pushed to it.
Lastly got Noonlight integrated with an automation that if the alarm is triggered for at least 15 seconds, they will call and verify with me to send police or not.
Edit: And I decided to go with Milestone X-Protect for my NVR just for straight up raw recording

I have an existing security system, but I want to “smartify” it and will either get an Envisalink or Konnected add on for it. I don’t want to buy something twice, so I plan on running a drop into my alarm panel box which is in a far corner, in a metal box, above a door frame meaning if I were to have wifi difficulty somewhere, it would be the most likely place, so I think I’m going with Konnected because it offers Ethernet where Envisalink doesn’t (if I remember), but Konnected is a much more difficult to assemble product (4 wires for envisalink runs the current system in parallel where you have to basically run a full parallel system with Konnected to keep the panels intact). They both have Home Assistant integrations, but Konnected is what everyone on the internet seems to recommend to build automations.
