Don't need anything fancy, just need one to build an iOS app. A 7 or 8 year old one will probably do.

There aren't very many to choose from on craigslist, and there are way too many on eBay.

I really don't have a clue what's what in the mac world. I just have an app I need to build as cheaply as possible.

I have a MacBook that I got in 2009. It hasn’t been turned on in years. Last time I tried it was so slow I closed it and haven’t opened it since.

Do you have any discs that came with it? What do you want for it?

I have a 2012 macbook pro that I put an SSD in and it works like a charm. 8 GB of ram and an i5 processor. I think I paid like $250 for it.

Look around and you can find a good deal. Anything mid 2012 or later should work fine and you can get an SSD for like $35 that will make it run really fast.

Replace the hard drive with an SSD and I bet it would be useable. Probably still too old to be good, but useable.

Another option is to install MacOS on a virtual machine. There are easy to follow instructions out there for installing MacOS on VirtualBox.

I haven't messed with VMs much... do you think the VM will give me much trouble accessing the USB ports? I have an actual iPhone to test with, so I'll be using Flutter to test the app on the phone via USB cable.

I'm sure it's possible, but from the little bit of searching I've done it sounds like it'll be a pain.

I have a white MacBook from 2006 that still works so long as it’s plugged in. I would want one that can run the latest OSX though if I were using it to test apps.

You can run an OSX VM.
