Been thinking about getting a projector for outside/garage for watching movies and sports (if they ever come back). Are any of the cheaper projectors even worth it?

back in the day the lightbulb was the big expense on these but i imagine there's not much to taking a small led screen and projecting it through a round lens onto a wall so i would guess they're all about the same.

Thanks man. I know watching in daylight would be a big problem for those cheap projectors, but wasn't real sure if buying a cheap one for watching outside at night or inside a garage with low lighting would just be a waste or not. I'll go ahead and snag one and try it out.

pro tip: a white vinyl shower liner stretched tight with cinderblocks at the bottom is just as bright of a screen as paying several hundred for a 'real' screen if you're setting this up outside.

i used my gazebo (yeah i know, trashy) and ran string through the shower ring hoops at the top to hold the top tight and straight and used a few bricks at the base behind it to make it super tight.

for $6 or whatever i paid for it who cares if you only get one or 2 uses

Little or no sound too, have to deal with that.

I figure I could just use a bluetooth speaker I have (has an aux port) or just grab the soundbar hanging on my back deck and hook that up.

Given what TVs go for nowadays, I'd almost suggest you just go that route. For not much more than 150 you could get a 40-50" TV. They're so light you could just pull it out and plug it in when needed and not hassle with the screen and all that bullshite. And you'd get a better picture.

You need to stick with Sonos advice.

Well all I know is a shower liner made a fantastic screen for my kid's birthday party so sorry for not spending $600 on a 'real' screen I was only going to use a couple times.

Oh and I borrowed the projector from my office too.
