So I'm looking at selling pdf's online. I stalk this board and you guys seem to know quite a bit, so I'm just hoping for some advice if anyone has done something similar.

I'm thinking the best way to do this would be to use one of the many sites that specialize in this. Sellfy and Selz look promising, and there are a lot of options they provided, along with built-in payment processors, accepting paypal, etc.

I guess I'm looking for something that is pretty turn-key, specifically for PDFs since that's all I will be selling, unlike say a wix page.

Wix seems to use Sellfy anyway to sell digital products and I get the feeling wix would have a lot of things I don't need just to sell digital files. For some reason I'm wanting to lean away from wix for this, but it could be just what I need.

Any thoughts or advice is appreciated.

Why would I buy a PDF file when I can create one for free?

I believe OP is trying to sell the content of the PDF, like an ebook.

Well, you're a smart guy and hang out on a tech board, so I'm sure you could. This would be for people who would rather buy these for $3 then take the time to create them themselves.

So for sake of the original argument let's say there's a market.

What exactly are they buying? Example: Person drafts document but wants it PDF version. They contact you and ask you to make the PDF for them so they can purchase it?

Is that the business?

No. A basic example would be a two-page ebook. Orginal content created by me. There are 100 on the site. You pick however many you want and the site charges you x per. That's what I'm looking for. Seems doable just looking for opinions.

As korkstand said, you're buying the pre-created pdf for the content.

If you want the management with a website, processing, and digital delivery it appears you're looking for a form of eCommerce solution. I would suggest you give Shopify a good read and possible demo. It is a great scalable solution and I used that for a client's move to ecommerce site.

I've sold novels and stories in pdf and other formats on Smashwords. Is that what you're asking about?
