Looking for recommendations for an inside OTA antenna to get ABC in Prairieville. I have the Winegard FL5500. It picks up NBC, FOX, and PBS, which are all farther away than the ABC signal.

Make sure your chosen antenna can see UHF and VHF. WAFB and WBRZ are still both VHF Channels.

WBRZ Baton Rouge is ABC and on digital channel 13 which is in the high VHF frequency range, the antenna you have covers that. You should be able to receive WBRZ with the antenna you have no problem, if you cant, maybe move the antenna to different location.

I have this antenna and still have trouble getting the low vhf stations. I am with in 15 miles and in Memphis so no major landmark interferences

quote:i dont have any trouble. are you directing it correctly. While this is a directional antenna it gets signals 360degrees. it just isnt efficient. withtin 15 miles you have an issue with something. but i dont believe a new antenna would fix it.

I think it is more of a low vhf station signal strength issue more than an antenna issue. When I lived in BR picking up all channels was no problem

why not just tell the OP to use antennaweb.org and punch in his address and follow their recommendations?
one antenna does not fit all.

According to the product description of the antenna it only covers the "high VHF channels",
"Winegard FlatWave Amped FL5500A Digital HD Indoor Amplified TV Antenna (4K Ready / ATSC 3.0 Ready / High-VHF / UHF / Ultra-Thin / Black and White - Reversible / USB Power Supply) - 50 Mile Long Range OTA Antenna"

A looked at a couple of different sites, and one of them listed the antenna I have as "Better" in their recommendations. Their "Best" recommendation is the Mohu Leaf 50. Before I bought another one, I wanted to see if anyone had local experience, since antennaweb.org did not run any tests in my neighborhood.
I'm wanting an indoor antenna to connect to my Dish Hopper 3 since local ABC is in a contract dispute. I ordered the ClearStream 2V off of ebay yesterday for $25, so hopefully that does the trick. If need be, I'll try it in the attic and hope I can use diplexers so that I don't need to run new cables.

I've got the unamped Flatwave, and it works far better than the Philips and Terk amped antennas I tried. I even get CBS in BR. This was indoors. I recently had reason to move it into the attic, and I'm wondering if it will survive the temperature extremes up there. Any thoughts? Unlike Newt's doll, being just a piece of plastic would seem to be a disadvantage.
