So I whored myself out on a recent visit to IKEA and found both a white symfonisk and a black picture frame symfonisk in the scratch & dent area so I figured why not.

I have to say they sound damn good. The picture frame is a little random but it looks good on the wall in my pool table room and sounds fantastic. you can pop the picture frame out for others ($19 each) but i doubt i'll do that.

The white symfonisk is on top of the shelf i bought at Ikea (the nice unit i really wanted is stuck in a container ship somewhere in an ocean) and also sounds great. Much nicer design than the ugly sonos ones I have everywhere else.

First pic is stock photo of exactly the one i bought; second pic is my office.

That black picture from one is interesting, hadn't seen that before. I have a ton of Sonos stuff (5 ones, playbar, sub). Does the Symfonisk show up in your Sonos up just like all of the other speakers and have the ability to be grouped in with your other regular Sonos products?

yep. the only difference is the picture frame used NFC (new to me) during setup so i just tapped my phone to it and boom it showed up. it even appeared in my sonos app right after i plugged it in so the already 'stupid easy' sonos setup was even more idiot proof.

if you're near memphis, there's a couple more in the scratch and dent bin ($100 instead of $200) if you want to try it.

the other symfonisk actually used bluetooth to connect to sonos initially and the pairing wasn't as smooth. i actually had to put my phone in airplane mode first to get it to link.

they act exactly like every other sonos.

I'm trying to decide if I replace by Samsung Q90R Atmos/DTS Soundbar, which is a beast, with an Arc and Sub. I have two play 5's for rear speakers. Seems like overkill, and the Sonos don't have upward firing speakers, but the ease of everything being Sonos would be nice.

I have Sonos everywhere (7 Play 1's, Move, Roam, Basement TV with a Beam and the current 5's with a Sub in my lounge).

But simplifying to surround in my main living room is tempting, but I'll lose some capability.

i'll be perfectly honest. i'm not overly fond of my playbar/sub/play 1 surround setup. you are correct; it doesn't really add much to my overall sonos setup. i rarely extend the sound from the tv playbar to the rest of the sonos network unless i'm watching a football game and want the tv audio to play all over the house.

its dated. no ARC and no ATMOS. i will probably repurpose the sub & 1s at some point and get a proper atmos soundbar/wireless sub setup for the main tv.

i dont foresee investing in an AVR setup again. just not something i need. been down that road for a couple decades prior to the sonos invasion.

My house is old school "wired for sound", but done in such a complicated way by the previous owner, I doubt I'll ever get it to work correctly.

They appear to be Polk speakers, but now about 15+ years old, so might not be worth it anyway. I'm watching these threads for ideas.

Is Sonos really the way to go for "ease of use"? The cost is crazy and I will need a lot of speakers to do it right.

Just swapped out my sonos for Sony ht-a9 set. Sony kicks the shite out of sonos. Moved the sonos to my bedroom

Pretty sure the Sonos Arc does have upward firing speakers

This looks promising. Can you still use a cable/ATT remote with it or do you have to use a dedicated remote?
