So when I logged into my e-mail this AM I get the following message from comcast/xfinity that they are sunsetting their Xfinity Connect app. Their idea of e-mail access via a mobile device is logging into a web browser. (which they say themselves is....)

quote:

Using third-party email clients (e.g., Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, etc.) to access your Comcast.net email address can potentially expose your Xfinity ID and password to fraud and other risks. We recommend you access your Comcast email by going to Xfinity Connect and clicking Email.

So, it looks like I'm going to be forced into a 3rd party app, which gets me to my question after a the above rant.

What's your go to 3rd party e-mail client app? Thanks.

You are saying your main email account is through Xfinity? Get a gmail or Outlook account and forward that archiac email to a real email system. ISPs are all trying to get out the hosting of email business.

I hear you, but it's not as easy when you've had an e-mail address for over 20 years.

I'd probably still start the process of migrating away from your ISP's email. For example, set up a Gmail, or whatever, forward the old email address to the new one and start using your new address exclusively to send new emails and reply to emails forwarded from your old address. It's better to start unattaching yourself now while you can do so seamlessly rather than wait until something happens like having to switch ISP's, your ISP stops offering email services, or the service becomes so antiquated it is unusable.

Another option is to get your own domain and sign up for an email hosting service.

FWIW, I do have a gmail acct, but use it sparingly. Why? Since my e-mail is so old, it's where I get all my spam. I wouldn't want to start forwarding that to my "clean" e-mail address.
