Alarm for pool gate when propped/left open

At our community pool people tend to leave the metal pool gate propped open allowing unwanted guests or people who dont live in the neighborhood to just walk right into the pool area. We currently have a basic key and lock to open the gate and it is easy to prop open after you enter. No magnets.
I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions for an alarm that could sound after a short period of time of being left open, similar to the way you refrigerator or freezer starts buzzing when left open. I think if we had the buzzer it would deter people from leaving it open as often as they do because of the sound it would make.
Thanks!

Hooligans will probably just break the alarm.

i have this but it entails 3 things:
* zwave open/close sensor on the gate
* sonos speaker
* smart hub
i have 3 pool gates (large yard) and this way i know if someone is sneaking into my pool at night. the sensor was painted black so you don't even notice it and i'd rather know when someone is opening the gate to my pool than locking them and having them jump the fence instead.

That makes sense for wanting to know when your pool gate is opened especially at your home. We just want it beep when it is left open for an extended period of time but not necessarily every time the gate opens.

this is very well possible but we do have cameras that would pick that up if someone tried to break it.

2 piece unit:
- sensor on pool gate
- alarm/siren mounted on a nearby eave or tree
that will eliminate them breaking it.
seomthing like this maybe?

you wont get that kind of control out of the cheap units.
i can do that and alot more with my zwave sensor & sonos speaker but that's because you have a hub/brain that you can script to do different things depending on how long its been open.
soemthing like
- soft beeping after 5 minutes
- louder after 10
- siren after 15

Only an idiot would pay $300 for that speaker

Unless you recognize them it won't help you.

And steal the magnets.

How about get the organization to approve a $20 fine anytime someone is seen propping the gate open. That will send alarms through the membership.
