If you have health insurance with Aetna and want an Apple watch...might want to wait and see if you can get a discount through them.

I have Aetna through my employer. It's a shame they aren't offering an android compatible watch.

Next they'll be monitoring your health data (heart rate, mobility, calories burned, etc) and adjusting your premiums accordingly.

I got a notice in the mail this week from State Farm saying that they'd offer a discount if you download an app that monitors your driving habits.

Privacy, as we used to know it, is slipping away

That's not how health insurance works. The premiums might go up, or down, depending on the health of the population as a whole, but your premiums are not individually calculated.

On the flip side, they could give incentives to people who have poor health to try to get them healthy. This saves the insurer money.

It's not clear yet what the Android devices will include. But it was discussed that it will be available to Android users soon.

FWIW, my insurance premiums are decreased based on a healthy lifestyle through a program called Vitality. I get "points" based on activity level (it syncs with a fitbit), healthy eating (scanning a card at the grocery store) and even taking online training on exercise and nutrition. Earn enough points and your insurance premiums go down.

That's the incentives I was referring to. I love them.

Same here. Didn't need another reason to hate Aetna, but now I have it.
