About to cancel ADT

I'm cancelling ADT b/c it's pointless to pay for it, imo. I'd good with my own cameras and all i really want is my doors to chime when they open so i can hear that when i'm home.
Does anyone know how to keep the door chimes working after i cancel? Don't they disengage the whole system once i cancel, so it won't work anymore? I've read if you remove something from the panel, the wireless monitoring device since i don't have a phone line, then they can't disable the system, but i don't know where that is or if that would even work.
Anyone have a clue?

My doors still chime. It has nothing to do with the contract.

ADT is more expensive than any other monitoring service I've seen since I started looking around.

You're simply cancelling the ADT monitoring service. The panel should still operate as it has been, but no one will respond to an actual alarm.
We cancelled ADT in July.

I just cancelled and the lady specifically said the panel will no longer work. will not be able to arm or disarm the alarm, as well as door and window chimes will not work.

I can assure you that mine did. We didn't have Xfinity come install their security system for almost a month after cancelling ADT.

well they did say it would work for 1 month from today, and then stop.
I found that part bullshite, as i cancelled today. I don't want to pay for 30 more days of it, but they said that is their policy.
I got news for them, i'm not paying for it, and i could give two shits if it goes on my credit report.

As soon as you call, disconnect the phone line. They will disable your panel which will kill the door chimes. If you disconnect the phone line they can't send the signal to lock your panel and your chimes and alarm will still work. Your system just can't call out.

Where do you disconnect the line? Mine has cellular backup

No idea if this is in your thought process, but if you want a much cheaper option, Ring is $100 a year for monitoring. Should be able to get a good deal with black Friday approaching.
If all else fails just contact sensors that chime are super cheap.

I don’t care about the monitoring. It’s worthless to me.
What I had heard was you have to either remove the phone line, or the wireless device so they can’t disable the panel. A phone line is easy. I’m not sure what I need to disconnect for the wireless part.

I cancelled a few months back..I paid annually.. They tried to hit me with some type of cancellation fee. They kept talking about a contract..I told them I did not have a contract with them and they are committing fraud if they try and charge me..I also said I don't want to hear contract anymore.. That was it and I am not monitored anymore..

I don't know you're specific system but there should be a way to disconnect the cellular modem on the main panel. Google should be able to help as I'm sure someone has done it. I had a landline.

I actually bought those door chimes as a back up, but I can't stand the noises it makes. Don't understand why they couldn't put a normal sounding chime on it.
it sounds like a doorbell, bing-bong, and then it makes me think of Don't be a Menace.

I bought a house 2 years ago that had ADT that had been cancelled prior to us moving in. The panel still chimes when doors/windows open.
