So anyone have experience with this?
I noticed that the grill was separating from the body of my Niles Audio outdoor speaker. Found a mud dauber nest attached to the woofer.
It's on the cone and from their website it's composition is poly.
I don't know what poly is but it looks like it would tear very easy.
I love these speakers. I've read some AI suggestions and hoping to also here if any of you guys had a remedy for removing that sucker.

I don't know how water resistant your poly is, but this is what I'd try.
First, I'd abrade the nest with a Dremel or similar until you get as close to the cone as possible. Then, I'd used a wet sponge to try to get the last dregs off. I don't know if their nests are composed of some water resistant enzyme or not, but it's worth a shot.

It's the only thing I could think of that wouldn't apply pressure to the cone and its attachment to the housing. Trying to cut the nest off seems like it would apply too much lateral? pressure to the speaker.

They have small, brass wire wheels for Dremel tools....

Cleaning a mud dauber nest off a polypropylene (poly) speaker cone requires gentle techniques to avoid damaging the speaker. Here’s how to do it safely:
What You’ll Need:
? Soft-bristled brush (e.g., a clean paintbrush or toothbrush)
? Damp microfiber cloth or sponge
? Isopropyl alcohol (70% or lower) or warm soapy water
? Compressed air (optional)
Step-by-Step Cleaning Guide:
Remove Loose Dirt
Use a soft brush to gently brush away loose mud without pressing too hard.
If the mud is dry, compressed air can help blow away dust.
Dampen & Loosen the Mud
Lightly dampen a microfiber cloth or sponge with warm water (or a mild soap solution).
Gently dab (don’t rub!) the mud to soften it. Let it sit for a minute if needed.
Wipe Away Residue
Once the mud softens, carefully wipe it away with the damp cloth.
Avoid soaking the speaker—moisture can damage internal components.
Final Cleaning with Isopropyl Alcohol
If any residue remains, dab a bit of 70% isopropyl alcohol on a microfiber cloth.
Wipe gently to remove any remaining dirt or stains.
Let It Dry
Allow the speaker to air dry completely before using it again.
What NOT to Do:
?? Don’t scrub aggressively—this can damage the cone’s surface.
?? Don’t use excessive water—too much moisture can seep into the speaker and cause damage.
?? Avoid harsh chemicals—solvents can degrade the poly material.
Would you like specific product recommendations for cleaning? ??

Psst. Every felt one for a Dremel? They are as soft as a baby's bottom...

I would break the outer hollow parts off (full of spiders usually) moisten just the rest carefully with a dw soap and water mixture several times till it all falls off. Maybe blast Black Sabbath through the speaker 24-7 and let it hatch to see if there are any genetic alterations to the dirt dauber?
