I like my 3D tv.
I move my chair and sit about 8 feet from my 55" screen and it looks awesome.
Granted if I didn't have it I wouldn't care, but I do enjoy it.

When you get to the levels of resolution we're currently getting to, doesn't that kind of get you there? I mean, it's going to essentially be like looking through a window.

Most theater screens are curved, as people sit within the borders of the screen. I also think it's because the light from the projector has to travel further on the outsides edges of the screen so it's helps with evening out the brightness, I could be totally wrong on that but I remember hearing something about that

Like jg8623 said. If you're sitting in front of the screen it's no big deal, but this isn't doable in most homes.

And I believe theater screens are curved because the projectors have curved lenses. If the screens weren't curved the image would be stretched towards the sides.
