I can't wait until these are widespread. Imagine how fast our goods could travel like getting important packages weeks earlier or seeing family across the country in half the time.. Gonna be cool

This would make it where someone living in Dallas could go out for dinner and drinks in Austin and then go home that night. It would be like a 30 minute ride

Wow this and high speed rail are going to make the big California cities sprawl well into Central Valley over the next 100 years.

It could potentially be way cheaper and less of a hassle to travel long distances within states. Plus transporting goods would take less time and saves millions of dollars on fuel.. That's always a plus.

I hope it's possible to do this without connecting it to the web, otherwise somebody is going to hack into it and people and goods are going to be stuck in a tube for a long time.

Will it generate it's own power? If not will sections go down during power outages?

Much too short to be worth it.

I'm curious what the ticket prices will be for those things.

Will it be cheaper than air/car travel?

The website says it will promote travel at airline speeds at the price of a bus ticket.

If they can actually pull that off it would set off a revolution in travel for sure.

And shipping.

I can see Bezos getting into this really soon. I can see Amazon building these out connecting distribution centers in the not too distant future.

The airlines need to back this as well. Obviously you'll still need planes to move larger items, and going over water, but domestic flights would be very limited compared to now. They could do it by making it where they take you from one spot to a major airport, limiting the need for small connector flights. ATL, Memphis, Nashville, BHM, etc would all benefit greatly from this.

San Diego to San Fran makes more sense than just stopping at LA.

It's interesting. The one thing airplanes still have going for them is that airports don't have to be connected. You put one somewhere, put another somewhere else and the vehicle gets there.

Takes a lot of effort and maintenance to route these tubes. It's the reason railroads don't move people any more/lose money.

If these things don't have to be rebuilt as often as rail lines that will help too
