Yellow card accumulation rule

I can’t be the only one who hates this rule. I know they have some version of it in almost every competition.
But the way it’s enforced in the World Cup it just always seems to rob us of at least one or two great players in pivotal games every year.

I hate it for WC
Would prefer either it be 3 yellows before suspension or clean the slate more often

This. I prefer the 3 yellows. Getting a single yellow in two separate games shouldn't hold the same future penalty for getting two in one game.

I've seen some games where "professional fouls" got yellows and other you had to destroy the man to get a yellow.
I agree it's terrible to basically have this randomness to potentially be a large impact to teams that lack depth.
Perhaps this rule is one of many reasons why only the best countries win.
