Would adding an additional ref or two at the highest levels be desirable?

I'm not trying to be one of those people that advocate changing the game to improve scoring or any of that surf.
But I was wondering what opinions were to adding an additional ref or two in very high level games such as the WC or the major professional leagues?
I think the refs get it right a lot of the time (heck even when a call seems wrong to me in real time the television replay usually shows the ref was right).
But there do seem to be some instances where the refs just can't cover enough ground or get in the right position. Be it calling a foul when it was a flop or failing to call a foul when there actually was one).
What does the board say?

I think adding a second whistle would be a bad idea.

They generally get it correct. I surprised at how well they do for the most part.
Drawbacks would be clutter as centers get in the way fairly often and a second whistle (plus the confusion that would add for if they see it two different ways or who calls what where etc.)
Also, in high school when this was allowed i generally did not like it. Granted, One main reason was the problems created with no AR's to call offside but you wouldn't have that issue
If wanting to add extra eyes, I think a more reasonable approach would allow the additional ARs on the goaline and figure out the best way to allow them to assist calls. Atleast you would have another person to confer with and you would be concerned with the problems of adding another center.

A referee sets the tone of the game by the calls he gives. Players know how physical they are allowed to be by what the ref calls/doesn't call. I love that about the game, tbh. Adding more refs would cause confusion and delays.

This would be a better option.

Serie A uses the extra official behind the goals and it's kind of mystery why it's not more common.
