I think the German outside defenders were playing too high early in the game. In the second half, it was just Germans throwing everybody forward.

Horrible spacing between Germany's defense midfield and attack. They also had one cb playing as a defensive mid which put the other on an island

Yea and that CB playing DM was Hummels who lacks any pace to cover ground.

This means Germany will likely end up on the opposite side of Brazil in the bracket. They will only meet if they do in the finals
