i had no idea Salah has gone out of his way to not shake hands with Jewish players and now he's at a club owned by a Jew.

What an immature douche.
ETA: He'll fit in well at Chelsea.

Celtic's raiding of Israel seems to be continuing. Omer Damari of Hapoel Tel Aviv is in advanced contract talks and talks are going on with Maccabi Haifa for Eyal Golasa.

I don't think Chelsea was in any trouble FFP-wise before this Mata deal. We Ain't Got No History blog has done some pieces about it and they point towards us being okay in that regard

I like the Salah transfer. He's a good player, quick and explosive, will be solid depth this season and he is still only 21. He was the best player on the field in our two CL matches and dating back to the EL last season he has scored 3 goals against us in 4 games.
Here is a really good read on that. LINK

i gave up about 1/4 of the way through since i've already got a BS in history hanging on my wall
i understand the context into which he was born and i certainly wouldn't consider myself pro-Israel. if he was trying to make a political statement, that's fine, though doing it vs a privately owned team which has no influence on those policy decisions and doing it to individuals seems rather suspect to me.

just kinda read the long piece on Chelsea and FFP to educate myself (sorry bho i admit defeat on the issue). it still didn't really break down the numbers of what Chelsea can spend in the transfer market in a given year with their new deals kicking in. by my rough calculations, you're now 20m in the red this season in transfer dealings...how much more can you spend and stay within FFP guidelines?
you guys have done well recovering from your wild spending days to meet the guidelines, but at least it's nice you've been reined in some

quote:This is spread over the life of the contracts though. So if Chelsea pays a 20m fee for a player and signs them to a 5 year deal, only 4m is counted against them per year.

FFP is not as scary of some have tried to portray it in my opinion.

yeah, i understand amortization (you also need to add wages and agents' fees into that calculation). you also have the book value of all the other players in there as well. whichever way you cut it, your days of purchasing players limitlessly are over. my question was how much do you have to spend?

Maybe this will help. LINK

still doesn't really give an idea of what kind of scrilla you guys still have to spend.
and it doesn't particularly make sense to me that the new TV revenue is included on this season's books but that guy says it so i'll go with it

quote:Sure, but that has nothing to do with the specific 20m you were talking about. I just think you're far too concerned about their FFP position.

i'm just curious what they can spend and still be compliant for the wage exemption, factoring in the new deals that will kick in and what not. i have a decent idea of what arsenal can spend (although their spending has more to do with fully staying in the black from a profit stand-point which is different than FFP-compliance).

my mistake.

Ciao Scarface.
Nicolas Burdisso will move to Genoa to get more PT and hopefully earn a WC spot. . .
I'll miss him. . .
Also, it seems Marco Borriello may finally accept the long rumored loan to West Ham. . .

Isn't that because an owner can essentially say - "I think my luxury box is worth $150 million a year" and then "fund" his team that money as the going rate for his box? Thus the club gets the income and can use it as it wants?

that's actually the kind of shite that can get you in trouble with FFP
