that 80 percent ARE foreigners

Honestly the 80% is just a guess.
I do know that they comprise a large portion of almost every roster, though.

Yeah, that seems like a pretty big stretch. Stanford won it all last year with zero foreigners on its roster.

Only problem is that 80% of all college rosters are already comprised of foreigners.

wow has it gotten that bad

I remember when I was in school is when the huge push to recruit overseas guys was going on. Every year WVU got a few. My first year we had a whole bunch of dudes from New Zealand.

Not sure if it's 80% bad, but it's not great.

Sure, but Clemson — which is as SEC as it gets for a non-SEC school — was the national runner-up a few years back. They got the talent somehow.

clemson gets an absolute frick ton of foreign talent. probably half of their team. they have some guys from the southeast as well, but it's not their whole roster.

i would love for the sec to add soccer, mainly because georgia would pretty much immediately be good at it. the talent in georgia, really just atlanta, is ridiculous.

Colleges should be able to move four years down in age and remove the hourly cap. This would help solve the issue of not moving to Europe until 18. In return schools get rights to players as a return on investment.

I wish FIFA would change this rule back to how it used to be. If a kid is talented enough at 12 years old to play in one of the major youth academies then let him go there.

All I want is regional youth academies. Iceland has shown that in an efficient system, you don't need a large population. You need coaching, access to grounds, and equipment. The regional idea works for the US, and I think it makes so much sense that it will surely never be enacted.

Based on what I understand about the US Soccer development facility in KC that is currently under construction, this concept is being taken semi-seriously. If they could replicate this with the assistance of other MLS clubs, I think we'll start seeing a more cohesive youth development program operated by US Soccer.

There's an allegory to be made in that.

If we could build around 5 or more similar centers, that would be amazing. One in the Seattle area, one in California, one in Texas, one on the East Coast and one in the South, and maybe one in the upper Midwest. Also programs to get retired players into coaching.

I think we can all agree that the more stable professional teams and academies established, the better this country will become in this sport. We've made huge strides in youth development in the last 10 years, but there's still lots of untapped potential.

Louisiana, for example, is a huge untapped well of potential soccer talent, with no fully professional team or academy established here yet. Our talented players like Patrick Mullins and Andrew Malinich have to go out-of-state to reach their potential. Hopefully that changes soon. I know if I won the lottery, that would be one of the first projects I spent my money on.

The SEC talent pool for soccer other than GA and TX isn't that good compared to other parts of the country.

But St. Louis is one of the original soccer hubs in the country. I didn't like living in St. Louis but I loved the soccer culture.

SLU is very good.
SLU gets theres kids from st louis.
St louis is in Missouri, Missouri is in the SEC.

How does this not fit into the topic of SEC and soccer teams? I guess I'll sit here until someone can explain this to me.

Saying Missouri isnt an original member, or fits in the foot print, does and means nothing.
