My family is in fact Sicilian. I've looked at Palermo but don't know much and they don't seem to be too consistently competitive. I've been to Rome and Florence so Roma and Fiorentina gain points there, along with Roma having Bradley. I also like Juventus just because I've like the Italian National team and they have an obvious presence with Juventus.
That all sounds pretty bandwagonish but I'm over it, thats how Americans must choose their teams these days

My girlfriend studied abroad there, so we made a trip last summer. Coolest place ever. I would definitely go with Fiorentina. Great people, fanatic atmosphere in the stadium, and awesome city. Plus their crest is the Fleur De Lis.

Yeah it's very cool. Unfortunately I was in 8th grade so I didn't appreciate as much and we only spent a couple days there after visiting Rome.
But I distinctly remember visiting the Florence Cathedral and that terrace type area that overlooks the entire city. Also amazing Gelato

The Duomo. The terrace area is Il Piazzale Michelangelo.

Easily the best in the entire country in my opinion.

Chelsea
Sporting KC
I only started following more soccer after the 2010 World Cup and really liked watching Drogba and then watched some Chelsea games. And I live in Kansas City so the latter choice is pretty obvious.
As for national teams...
1. USA
T2. Belgium
T2. Jamaica
