This is what I posted in the game thread:
- Marshall
- Findley
- Johnson
- Bedoya
- Rogers (Numbers game. If Buddle doesn't go, he does.)
- Pearce (or Bornstein... flip a coin, but I think Bornstein's "experience" at CB will carry him through)
- Kljestan
I really don't know about that last spot. Rogers showed well, Bedoya didn't. Buddle hustled his arse last night, and lost 10 minutes to that knock last night. If those guys played in camp like they did last night, that's the toughest decision, and if that's the case, both guys deserve to go.
Pearce and Bornstein really looked poor last night. Some of it is skill deficiency, but I attribute some of it to them both knowing that their 45 minutes determined whether they go or not, and pressing too hard.
I just can't envision Bob taking a starting LB with injury concerns, with his cover being a midfielder who has played poorly in his couple showings for the US at left back (Beasley), and a right back that has been average at LB with his club (Spector). Just doesn't seem to be Bob's MO.
I think whoever won (or didn't lose) the Bornstein/Pearce decision bumps Rogers or Buddle off the plane.

I agree with everyone on Sheeps list.
Bornstein will beat out Pearce b/c of Bradley's favoritism towards him. And it's not like Pearce helped his cause last night anyway.
Sadly, Bradley will take one of Bornstein/Pearce...especially with the injury concern of Boca. Spector would be the only option there if Boca is out for any period of time. Also, with Gooch not looking 100%, Boca may slide central. There's no way Bob leaves off both Pearce and Bornstein.
Rogers gets bumped off b/c of the abundance of midfielders that we've got.

I agree, which sucks... because I think Rogers may have been the best player on the field in his 45 minutes last night.

He shouldn't have taken that 30 yard shot. Wasted a chance.
He did that against Holland a couple of times too.
Not saying he's selfish, but it doesn't sit well.

I'm okay with a guy taking a crack from distance from time to time. Holden and Torres have done it in games past. He hit it hard, and forced a save out of Cech.
At that point in the game, the Czechs kept sliding back with Gomez and Ching every time the US had the ball, and not conceding a through ball or chip. You've got to shoot at some point, to pull the defenders up towards the midfield.
Rogers takes those shots because he can put them on frame with pace.
I think the willingness to take a crack is something that the US has lacked in years past.

pearce was AWFUL on the third goal.
To be honest he wasn't "awful." He probably thought he had help considering theres a 4 man back line and only 2 people in the box. Edu shouldve been closer and played better helping D allowing Pearce to commit to the ball. But thats what happens when you put a mid in at CB, he was woefuly out of place.
