i dunno about this

brazil seems to be currently in a generation that falls in a talent gap

some of their former young superstars didn't pan out (robinho and a slew of others), their strikers are young and not elite, and their 2 former superstars have had their careers nose dive (kaka, dinho)

I disagree. Brazil had a team to win last World Cup but didn't get it done. But the talent was there.

Brazil might have a gap in about 2 or 3 positions at best right now. I do agree that Brazil has lots of very young talent being thrown into the highest level of competition to learn via trial by fire. They will make mistakes now but come next World Cup they will have earned their stripes. Not only that, Brazil is going through a tactical transition of a defense led offense from the Dunga regime back to its attacking style. It will take a little time. But even considering that transition period and all the fresh faces on the squad they still dominated a veteran Paraguay team and could have put 4 or 5 on them in a day the breaks were going their way. Alas it was the opposite this Sunday.

I see a lot of people ranking Italy ahead of Germany in terms of league strength, but they usually go 3rd/4th behind England and Spain.

Any thoughts on this? Personally I think Germany is the stronger league right now, and the extra CL spot confirms this, imo.

Probably just because of Inter's run in 2010. You can't justify that from top to bottom. Juventus' struggles haven't helped their case either.

With the advance in tactics, I wonder if we will ever see the Samba style like we once saw. Even the 2002 team was built on defense rigidity, and great defensive awareness.
