Either with posters on here, or the entire site.. Or the Internet in general.

Or even just things soccer fans say that annoy you.

I'll start "Ive always rated him"

Rated him what? I dont care if it's something British people say, it doesn't make sense in the context of an American board. "I've always rated him highly" FTFY

How many soccer people try to justify diving as "part of the game".

When "fans" like two rival teams. Especially ones that intensely hate each other. E.g. Barca/Madrid, rangers/Celtic, united/city, spurs/arsenal

Really? After all of the Jed and dandy threads this is the one that gets the hate?

pissing contests of "true" fandom

edit: when an commentator, often Efan Ekoku, mentions that a free kick shot off target,"was always going ova" the bar. the keyword here that annoys me being "always" as if the gods predetermined the outcome and trajectory of the kick somewhere in the book of genesis

me and crazy4lsu are developing an Efan Ekoku drinking game

important edit - tuna salad

moving on to my post, i agree with the 'always going over' shite. hate it almost as much as 'it all depend son the spot of the ball' in american football. it all depends on the spot of the ball? no fricking shite arse frick. just give 'em the first down then.

Agree with you completely on the "true fan" arguments. It's like arguing over musical tastes there's just no point.

I actually like Efan Ekoku but I see what your saying about the "always going over" line but it's normally just to point out that the shot was always rising up.

yeah I actually like Efan Ekoku. when he and Darke are calling games it's a fine pairing. it's just one of those first world problems of nitpicking soccer idioms/cliches.

there are a lot of buzzphrases for wingers that always worm their way into my observational annoyances. he's always "marauding" and "getting to the touchline and putting paint on his boots." it's the same thing in american football when commentators rest on their laurels and spout cliches rather than work hard to spin the situation at hand with novelty and creativity.

that's why ray hudson is masterful, because aside from his nicknames for players ("Chameleon eyes" or "little wizard") most of his asides are wildly imaginative and never repeated.

this is a light pet peeve. i don't really care too much but it always takes me out of the moment when someone remarks on a play with John Madden-esque, dead obvious, uninspired, vanilla commentary. life is tough sometimes, y'know?

Nationalism/patriotism in international competitions (every national anthem is roughly an hour and a half long). Can't we all just do our best to see them as clubs instead of representing some plots of land? Ah, dreams of mine.

Pet peeve #2: The fact that every announcer in every game/match in every sport sucks according to posters here.

This. This. THIS.

Doesn't matter how you picked your team, just follow them with all you've got and don't jump to the hottest thing every year.

EDIT: Orange Chicken and fry ry from Panda Express.
