Before today, it was obviously Portugal. But now that they've broken their drought, which country is now the greatest footballing nation to have never won a major international title? Is it Belgium? Hungary? Sweden? Croatia? It's hard to come up with a definitive answer. What do you guys think?

World Cup, Confederations Cup and a continental trophy like the Euros, Copa America, Gold Cup, AFC Asian Cup, Africa Cup of Nations.

Major trophies are almost always defined as World Cups and continental trophies (Euros, Copa Americas, AFCONs, Gold Cups?).

I guess Confederations Cups could count, too.

If we don't count Gold Cups and only consider World Cups and those random Copa Americas, maybe.

I'm not counting Gold Cups, it's just not a good tournament

Confed Cup is weird though, I can go either way on that, small tournament that exists as a trial run for the real tournament

No, they won a roofing contest sponsored by Century 21.

They dominated.

But it is a confederation tournament regardless so that has to count. We can't just cherry pick.

Is Belgium a great footballing nation though? They have a lot of talent right now, but historically they aren't a strong side. This time a decade ago they were ranked 56th in the world

They have been an up and down team, historically. Can never seem to put it together.

Nah, it's clear the 3 tournaments that are head and shoulders above the others. It's an easy distinction.
