He doesn't give a shite IMO (about posthumous considerations, etc.).
People forget he won two Champion's Leagues with a very, very difficult Real Madrid dressing room (Ian Darke's counterpart in the booth was there for one).

Probably going to sound dumb but I think he did a pretty poor job of managing, at least with his team selections, this tournament and Spain mainly won in spite of him.

Cesc, along with Alba, was by far their best player all tournament but he was/is always the one sacrficed when Del Bosque wants to tinker with things. He can't pick a lineup. He started Negredo for God's sake. Spain has no need for two holding mids and Xavi. If Spain would drop Busquets and start Cesc and pick a striker, whether it be Torres or Llorente, I really think they would be untouchable. I think the final score today is glossing over a lot of issues Spain had in this tournament most of which were self created imo. That said they are European Champions, so congrats there, I just think probably 3/4 of the people on this board could have led them there.

Then leave Torres in there. I know he is not in top form but he won the Golden Boot playing probably less than half the possible minutes. Imagine what he could do with Cesc out there as well to actually play dangerous balls to him.

I hate to say it, but I agree with randy in that Torres should have been out there more than he was.. not that it made a difference in the end but ya know.
There were times where I saw Spain playing very nice balls in... and nobody was making the final run because they just aren't used to being strikers.

As much as anything I think he is just living off what Pep did with Barca. Smart move, I just don't see anything special in Del Bosque.

I think VDB did a fantastic job of player management in this tourney. it wasn't a foregone conclusion that they would win.
