I think Dike's injury was more than he lead on. It might not even be a long term injury, but you could tell he was hurting.

Mulligan is a good group for him. Id like to see him with the euro players and no shoulder injury.

Interested to see if he plays any tonight against Miami considering he's had over a week rest.

Busio: a technical player transferring to a technical league is great. That said, he will need to physically mature quite a bit to be a big factor. And he may, but I see more Julian green than a core USMNT player going forward in Busio. Busio is a cycle away at least.

This dude looks like he’s playing in quicksand.

The passing ability and potential that he has is insane. Also, it was very clear between group and knockout play he had made obvious efforts to fight harder for the ball and improve his physicality. Still played slow, but in part his supporting cast of miss wasn’t helping him too much as far as being open for quick passes.

I also thought the same about Busio and was encouraged by this. Just from this tournament he seems like a kid that will put in the work to reach his ceiling (whatever that may be).

Not a player but Berhalter had back to back tournament final wins. Beating Mexico in both.

He really made a lot of great moves in the Gold Cup. He was limited at winger and made several adjustments with formations and players. Beating Mexico's A side with our B side is impressive.

Dike's injury

Not even on the bench tonight for OCSC so that’s concerning.

This wasn’t Mexico’s A. Hell, Ochoa wasn’t even in goal. More like Mexico’s B+.

Mexico was starting the majority of their starters from the nations league final. Probably somewhere between an A-/B+ team. Our only starters in the GC final who would have been first backups to our A team (at the start of the tournament at least) are Acosta, Lletget, Cannon, and mayyyybe Zardes. The rest would be third string at that position or not even on the depth chart. I think we brought more of a C team than a B team, which makes the win all the more impressive.

But then I think you can make the argument that Robinson and Turner proved themselves to be a starting XI type guys and Hoppe showed that he could possibly be in the first-choice 23.

So of the guys that played in the GC final, Turner, Robinson, maybe Cannon and one of Acosta and Lletget would be in the starting XI of our A-team right now with those five plus Hoppe and maybe Zardes in our A-Team 23. So the argument could be for a B-team which is why I've always said it was a B/C squad against an A/B squad.

By my very quick count Mexico had seven players that started both games. Two other players played in both. Now USA only had one starter in both games and two other players that played in both so George don't low ball this if you are going to call Mexico's Gold Cup team a B team then the USA's team would be C- team.
