he is a natural winger but hes so damn good he can play on the back line. Wish we could use him as a lock out wide.

He's been called in by Klinsmann twice in the past 2 years.
Gold Cup and Euro-based roster.
ETA: He made a grand total of 1 cap in the whole WCQ cycle, one less than Michael Orozco and none in 2013.
Gooch is a non-entity.

There's the four you take to Brazil. Not saying that's a high-quality group, but they are in better form & physical shape than Gooch right now and Jurgen has relied on them a hell of a lot more in recent call ups.

Agreed, but there's nothing that indicates he's in the plan at CB, especially if Cherundolo can't go.

As for Cameron as a CB, in 2010 we took Gooch, DeMerit, Bocanegra and Goodson with Bocanegra also getting time at LB. I think the same approach will be taken this time around, three true CB's and Cameron who can be both a RB or a CB.
Look, don't get me wrong, I love everything Gooch has done for the US and I still tear up inside when I think of his injury in that Costa Rica game in '09. But, his time as a legitimate option for a World Cup is done. Jurgen has already shown that he has more faith in Besler, Omar, Cameron & Goodson and I'm fairly certain those are the four he will put on the plane (God forbid any injuries).
Sure, when he is asked if the door is open for other players like Gooch, he will say yes to keep the talent pool competitive. But, it's been clear for some time now that he is a step behind.
What sucks about it all is that, had he not gotten injured and fricked up his knee, he'd be the perfect partner with Besler for this World Cup and our back line would be pretty formidable.
