U-20 WC Honduras vs. Fiji

13 minutes in, Fiji plays a long ball over the top that is beyond everyone. It is rolling towards the touch line, and the Honduran defender gets within a few steps and jogs after it. He misjudged it, and a Fijian (is that right?) player sprinted around him and cut it back to a teammate in the box who hit it too hard for the keeper to parry at close range.
3 minutes later, another long ball over the top is being shielded back to the keeper by a defender. Somehow, the keeper just overuns the ball. The defender clears, but a midfielder inexplicably plays a drop pass that looked terribly mishit. It landed in the box, and the keeper picked it up. The ref judges it a backpass, so Fiji gets a FK 12 yards out 3 or 4 yards wide of the right post. On what appears to be an intentional play, Fiji plays the indirect free kick straight off the crossbar, letting it deflect to the middle of the box for an attacker to finish.

Im watching as well. Incredible. Would be pretty cool to see Fiji pull this off after getting hammered 8-1 by Germany.

Did that free kick off the crossbar look intentional to you too? Both of these goalkeepers look like hot garbage. I need to get citizenship in one of these garbage little countries.

It sure was close to being the case. I was kinda of like "WTF" and had to take a minute to digest the whole sequence. I even though about making a thread as well. Didnt think either of the 11p, games had potential but you just never know.

International games always have potential, particularly of the youth variety. It's just a special game when players wear the colors of their country. And when you have smaller countries like this, each team usually has a glaring hole or two on the field to lend to weirdness. Sadly, it seems like keeper is the most common flaw. As one myself, I know the job is not easy by any stretch, but it's amazing how many fundamental errors they make.

I love it. Summers have the individual confederation Cups and world cups for various other ages and competitions. This sport just gives and gives.

Didn't see any of it, but this sounds like some match fixing BS.
