Richy you have one job. Beautiful ball from Porro and you can’t even put it on frame!

No doubt Bayern are one of the best teams in the world, but this is worrying. We really haven't looked like scoring at all this preseason.

About what I imagined what we’d look like with no convincing offense.

This is key. I have absolutely zero idea where the goals will come from. You could say the same last season too tbh, but it’s even worse right now. On top of it all, it’s just ugly to watch. Lots of hoofing it long, and praying. I don’t see any real patterns of play. Even Bayern’s kids bent them over.

This was a worrying performance, and I don’t even think Bayern are all that good. The match against psg could get ugly. You can press the shite out of this squad, there’s zero composure. PSG about to fricking feast. Only hope is that psg are still on vacation.

Few takeaways from this preseason:

Frank definitely has showed his team structure and positives in transition to defense

Tel didn’t play on the left, once.

If current formation in offense, then the 10 is the linchpin

Johnson was underwhelming on both left and right. If he’s not doing tap ins, he doesn’t offer anything in terms of taking on his man, nor having the workload for defense.

Archie had few minutes today, but when he came on, is was an excellent continuation from the Newcastle match. Hope he gets more time in the midfield and never again is used in the back line

It is abundantly clear Richy and Biss have to go. Their liabilitie$ far outweigh their contributions.

I have confidence Frank has a good handle on whom has promise to work with and who are the deadweights. Maybe Lange was waiting on Franks analysis to start the buying process? Probs unlikely, but it’s all I’ve got in this self-enclosed copium tank. Because based on what we have, or more importantly all that we’ve lost in player g/a, we are the ones currently looking like Brentford, and see us finishing 12th (at best) if our player pool doesn’t change.

Conflicting reports on whether we offered for Nico Paz or not. Either we did or didn’t, credible sources imply that we’re actively inquiring. I haven’t seen any Como matches but the consensus from fans is that he’s a “baller” at the 10.

Other than a sell on clause issue from Real Madrid that’s in his contract, this seems like one worth monitoring.

Here is where I'm at.

I do not doubt that Frank will bring more balance and structure, and I’m still excited about his appointment. The reality is that we are desperately missing the creativity and tempo control that Maddison/Kulu can provide. Without a proper #10, we have no control or ability to progress the ball in the middle of the pitch, which leads to either long balls that result in us turning it over or us going backwards and cycling it around the back until the opposition pins us and we have to boot it.

Richarlison is just not good enough. He wears the badge with pride and always gives his all, but our attack will be limited as long as he plays meaningful minutes. We can’t use him as an outlet because he can't distribute the ball the same way Kane did, and to a certain extent, Solanke can. He, unfortunately, is just a hard runner with very little clinical ability in the box and no ability to run in behind or take his man on. Even as I write this, I struggle to identify one thing he does really well other than press.

Kudus is the real deal. A player with his abilities on the left would massively improve our attack.

I'm concerned about the amount of possession we concede and the lack of chances we have created this preseason. We have played three really strong teams, but 38% 43% and 42% possession, and being outshot 54-19 is just not going to cut it. We’re not balanced right now and are spending too much time defending.

Levy needs to stop doing interviews and learn to shut up. You can't stand up and say we sacked Ange because it’s not enough to win the Europa League, that we need to be winning the EPL and competing in all comps, and then watch every big team around us massively improve while you loan a 30-year-old DM and sign one winger. I'm actually at peace with us not competing this year. There is simply no way that ENIC will do what it takes to keep up.

Lastly, thank god the boys got the job done in Bilbao because I can't imagine how miserable this summer would have been had we lost that final. COYS!

Good write up. Agree on all points.

On your last, I’d also like to add that beating the Scum over the summer is somewhat of a balm on our outlook.

Imagine taking the Super Cup as well!
