Way over analyzing a preseason match, but it’s awesome to see Frank out coach Lego man.
Prematch speech from frank emphasized not letting Arse get behind the back line. Frank knew we didn’t have the front three juice with injuries, so he had the boys much better organized defensively. Arse basically had the same lineup as last year and the wingers could not get around Porro and Spence. Saka was pocketed the whole match. Odegaard was ineffective through the middle since there was no room with the double pivot. Hence Sarr and Benta having a great game with interceptions.
After winning the first half, frank moved to a low block to experiment which he stated in post game presser), and despite having 15 shots, Arsenal managed only 1 on goal all game.
Saying all this to reveal how refreshing it is to actually have a defense again, Frank’s in game tactical moves, versatility, and Arsenal looking predictable. No wonder Arteta was so frustrated.
