Sky is saying it happened. There is tier one sources and then their is sky.

Philippe Coutinho has issued Liverpool with an official transfer request following the owners' statement that he is not for sale, according to Sky sources.
Liverpool have denied receiving any such request and on Friday morning, Fenway Sports Group released a statement saying "no offers will be considered" for Barcelona target Coutinho this summer, with Jurgen Klopp backing the owners' sentiments.
Sky Sports News understands Liverpool have so far rejected two bids from Barcelona for the Brazil international, with the latest offer worth up to £90.4m.
Later on Friday, a close family member of Coutinho's told Sky Sports News: "Philippe has tried very hard to find an amicable solution to this situation but to no avail.
"He has tremendous love for the club and its fans, but like Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez have pointed out in the past, Liverpool does not let its players leave on amicable terms."

I guess we'll know when Phil makes a statement... If true, sell him... but only when/if Barca meets our valuation... I hope £90mm is not it... they have much more than that...
edit: Actually, I wouldn't sell... too late in the window.
I hate this shite...

Yea finding a replacement this late will suck and have you paying even more bc it's a panic buy.

Not really individual to Coutinho saga but do you guys think two clubs involved in transferring a high profile player ever come to an agreement fairly quickly, but then basically orchestrate a bidding process to have the seller save face, the buyer look more determined and /or take some of the pressure off the player?

I'd try for these two, if they'd want to come..
Seri has a £35mm release clause (barca was in for him, this may rule that out now)
Kovacic has a £45mm release clause (it's a WC year, so he may want the playing time)

Thats what many people have theorized with happen with the VVD saga... who knows...
I'm sure there is def some games played to save face... to what extent, I'm not sure..

All they need now is a target man. It's been a damned good transfer window for OM.
Snagging Jovetic would be nice, but I wouldn't be surprised if OM stick with Germain and N'Jie.

That's insane price for a squad player
But Madrid going to Madrid

If I knew we could get him... I'd sell Coutinho at our price and get him in... He replaced him once, he could do it again..
Go for Seri too or even better (more expensive) Sergej Milinkovic-Savic... and when it's all said and done I'd be a happy guy... minus them having a pre-season, etc...
I know this is all a bit football manager wishing but thats what I am left with at this point..

Kovacic looks to be starting in the Supercopa, so I don´t see him going soon....

it's wishful thinking, but make him say no... how can he resist the deal of playing with his Croatian brate... Dejan Lovren!!

Lol the Liverpool fanboy melt on Reddit about Coutinho is hilarious.
If Barca/Real come asking for a South American it's game over.
ETA: LMAOOOOOOO Apparently Barcelona sent Pep to meet w/ Coutinho last week to sell him on moving to Barcelona

He's turned OM down and he's slow.
Having seen Sanson and Gustavo play in the mid-field, I think a forward with mobility would be the best option.
