They should have given Loftus-Cheek a chance instead of loaning him out. And in order for him to be replaceable they have to buy someone too. Bakoyako is a good buy, but I think they need someone who can drive the ball forward from deeper positions, something Fabregas doesn't really do well. Also Fabregas is such a massive defensive liability. I always forget how slow he is until I watch him play.

Loaning RLC was the right move, selling Chalobah was the wrong one.

Conte wants depth, so obviously he didnt want to see Matic go, but he wanted out and the price was right. But i like Romans approach to letting players out that want to move. Always playing hard ball could have a negative knock on effect in recruiting new ones.

Well yes, this is definitely under the assumption we bring someone else in and I would have loved to see Chalobah, Ake, or RLC get a chance but that's not how Chelsea does things unfortunately.

He's slow but still faster than Matic and provides infinitely more with his passing.

We have the money to bring in Bale, Alex Sandro, etc, and we're not spending it/pissing off one of the best managers in the world. Our net spend the last three windows is on par with Crystal Palace.

At least Randy will still be able to get those jokes off about Manchester spending

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has admitted that Nemanja Matic's departure to Manchester United is 'a great loss.'

The midfielder rejoined Jose Mourinho for £40million, opting to leave last season's Premier League champions for Old Trafford.

Conte made no effort to disguise his disappointment in Matic's exit and conceded that his side will be worse for it.

quote:

The Italian told Sky Sports: 'Matic knows very well what I think about him.

'The importance for me about this player, who is a really good player, a top player, very important for our team, but sometimes you must accept this crazy transfer market.

'And sometimes you must accept different decisions. But he is a great loss for us.'

The Stamford Bridge outfit have accounted for Matic leaving with Tiemoue Bakayoko's arrival and will hope the former Monaco star can fill in ably for the Serbian.

I still have no clue why they didn't give Chalobah a chance.

Watford got an outstanding player.

He was the one Chelsea fans had been hyped about for years. Kid who grew up in London been at the academy for ever. He was the one who was supposed to make it.

Liverpool have reportedly rejected a new €100 million bid from Liga side Barcelona for Philippe Coutinho, with the club insisting he is not for sale.

The Reds had already turned down an offer worth £72 million from the Spanish giants, but this did not deter Ernesto Valverde’s side.
