So let me bring up a formation discussion:

2e should be able to step into MULTIPLES next season. 4-4-2, 4-1-4-1, 4-1-3-2... Several possibilities.

What is your preferred formation and lineup moving forward, and six subs you'd prefer?

I really like the idea of having the following:

Allison
TAA - Gomez - VvD - Robbo
Fabs
Mo - Hendo - Ox - Manè
Bobby

Subs: Brewster, Gini, Migs, Matip, Milner, Origi

The reason I see it this way is that there are rumblings that Klopp brought Brewster to the UCL final last year because he sees Brewster getting significant time in the squad; not necessarily at striker, but on the wing or as a center mid as well.

To me this screams that when Origi is on we will be playing Brewster as a false nine of sorts at the tip of the midfield spear.

When Bobby is in, both he and Brewster could settle into the false nine role at different points, kind of like a double-pivot on top of the formation. I'm especially excited about the potential of seeing this (maybe not much this year) if Brewster is what he seems to be. This would be really great to help break pressure since the attention of the opposing back line would have a minimum focus on 4 players, but not know who is coming or when.

Maybe that's just me dreaming, though.

Anyone else have a formation/lineup they want to see or think we will see this season?

I'll be honest--wish I knew enough about the game to argue with you. I went to the World Cup semis in Dallas since a company I repped was a sponsor. Watched Brazil play the Netherlands and was mesmerized.... I just know when its played bad or well. Formations and position numbers still largely mystify me. I'm old I guess

I like any formation that has Fabs as the holding mid and that frees Hendo to get up field. I found that was when we were at our best throughout the season.

ETA: was about to ask you where’s shaq, but google tells me he’s done for a bit.

Well not only that, I think he will be a situational/squad player. He may not make the bench at times this coming season, fit or not.

Ox is a power and pace guy and Keita is s b2b creator. I still hope that somewhere we find a true creative midfielder. After the elation of #6 we forget we lost the league because when teams parked it we had trouble creating for our finishers consistently. Yes, we missed some chances in those matches but I believe we still need a guy who can break a bus down more than once or twice a match. There’s a guy who just got his #7 taken from him at his dream club.........anyone?! I know it’s not gonna happen but I loved that little magician.

i'd be very surprised to still see him on the squad after the January window, tbh...

For sure a couple of baby Byrd's, but they are a couple of decades from being the next Bobby and Mo.

You're missing Keita in that 18... no way he's not at least a bench player (I think he's more than that tbh)

I think Keita has a big year for us. He has a year in and should be way more comfortable to start.

You're right. I'm starting to see where it will be hard to decide who does and doesn't make the bench.

Great problem to have.

I agree... if he can finally manage to get and stay healthy.

Do people not remember we couldn’t beat a parked bus with him in the team either?
Coutinho’s ceiling was that Liverpool team he forced his way out of. He’s an inverted winger, not a true midfielder. As a winger, he’s not better than mo or mane. Could he be a squad for us now? Yes. But he doesn’t want that and the price Barca wants isn’t that.
I am curious to see how we decide to take on the challenge of teams that sit back but it’s difficult for me to say we struggled with anything last year.

Yeah, especially considering it wasn't that long ago where we struggled to pick a decent starting striker (can we just purge that Balotelli/Lambert year from existence?)

So... It was from a supporters group, but I saw something interesting a little bit ago.

Apparently there are reporting rumors right now that Coutinho may be returning to Merseyside on a two year loan, at the end of which Liverpool would have a buy-back option at the price of €88M.

I don't believe it quite yet, but I feel like this would be wonderful business.

I could live with that.

Hard to believe, but I’m OK with it as long as its a reasonable loan fee.

And unless he comes back as more of the player he was, no way I’d spend 88M euro for a Coutinho that would be knocking on the door of age 30.

That is interesting. And yes, we have always struggled with a parked bus even with Phil.
