It was def as soft as they come, but I don't think the ref gave it for what Mo did.. it was what the defender did... I see a lot worse not given all the time..

Its amazing to me that if Dejan Lovren had done the exact same and the other team had been awarded a penalty, some fans arguing “soft penalty” now would switch and condemn Dejan for playing stupidly and rashly in a dangerous position.

Except based in reality because I’ve absolutely seen Lovren roundly condemned before for doing less than the Newcastle defender did today. Hell, I’ve seen Lovren cleanly defend in the box and get called for a foul and the usual suspects will chime in on Lovren’s rash and risky play.

but what does that have to do with Mo's penalty??? If I was a Newcastle supporter, I'd be saying that's not a pen, but thinking that the defender shouldn't be pulling a player back in the box..
Similar to Lovren against the bitters last year.. no way is that a penalty against DCL, but Lovren's poor positioning didn't help it at all...

I thought I made it perfectly clear, some of the same people who want to tut-tut Liverpool for FINALLY getting a penalty awarded at Anfield for the first time in over a year are the same people who quickly condemn and blame Lovren when the same crap or less is called on him.
