I don't disagree with any of that, but like I said, it's hard to convince people to come into the squad to be our 7th option in midfield or something like that. CB is where I'd be most worried, but some of the more reliable journos have said we have backup options to VVD. I do worry a little that we'll sit around waiting too long, but there's still over a month left in the window. It's Keita that's more of an all or nothing thing.
But at CM I think we're better off because we can change formations or have Woodburn or even Milner slide in there. Again, far from a perfect situation, but if we have to do that for a game or two, we'll survive. Stewart was our last option at CM last year and he played in like 4 games all year I think? Maybe started one? It's a big squad to try and manage

this has been a crazy saga It was suggested by some ITK's that he might be left out of their next pre season friendly. And another one has said his agent is supposed to meet with their management in the next 48 hours. Maybe to try and force a move.
Not getting my hopes up at all but this is why it's called silly season.

We do have CBs, but only one (Matip) is worthy of starting in a team pushing for silverware... Assuming Sakho is out..
I agree CM is better covered, assuming we keep Can...
If Keita is a no-go... assuming we can agree with him to wait a year.. we would get a player with one more season and UCL experience under his belt for 2/3 the price..
I'd be all for pushing for the Ox this summer... CM and wide coverage..

I love the inside info our ITK's get nowadays. Seemed like they were getting less info after Rodgers left, but now since the VVD incident, it doesn't seem like they get any info at all.

Ben Smith is not with the Beeb any more. He was super reliable back in the day when he was the Merseyside hack from the beeb. Now he runs his on Virtual Reality company. I'd say he's far removed from the daily happenings at the club. I wouldn't put too much into what he says. He's probably just speculating based on banter with this mates who are probably still at the club.

I'm aware of that but it's not like he totally lost contact with any of his sources. I'd like to think he could check in if he wanted.

Gomez sure looked smooth and sure of himself in the Leicester match, but considering his lack of playing time over the last 1 1/2 years because of his injury, you never know.

Almost looks to me like a "you don't want to be here? take THIS" kind of thing.
And Keita was having none of it.

Read on twitter that isn't a new bid, but the "third bid that was rejected"
The bild article, which I could only find in German, apparently is just about his training scuffle today and mentions the 83mm bid. If earlier reports are true though, that one has already been rejected. I really don't think we get him. Leipzig seem fully prepared to cut off their nose to spite their face

Yes. But the last Bild article about Keita quoted the last bid (2nd bid) at 66 mn. Also, the Guinean journalists that have been there or thereabouts through this saga say that Keita's agent flew to Austria today for discussions with RB. RB are headquartered in Austria.

Still a lot of ifs and trying to connect the dots but figured 2 sources are a start. Pearce and Joyce will confirm or deny tomorrow I imagine once they get more concrete sources.

The difficulty for Liverpool with this deal seems that Keita is not outright pushing for the move (yet) but simply open to it.
If he's willing to play for RB Salzburg next season, their valuation of him is going to be inflated by the chance that that selling him means missing CL next year and losing the €50-60m paycheck that comes with it.
I would imagine it will just come down to whether Liverpool is willing to pay them so much that even if they miss CL it's still a decent deal for them.

Doesn't look like emre is going to be signing that contract now.... we really need Kieta this window or some CM back up if we want to compete. I hate to say it but I think Henderson might only be good for about 60-75% of games per season due to his foot stuff so we need to buy now. I've been reading lately about Renato Sanchez wanting out from Bayern and I think we should at least entertain that since he was the young CM everyone wanted last year.

Now I'm seeing Cadena SER saying Coutinho has agreed terms with Barca. I want to believe it is all horseshite but nothing's been the same since I saw Torres leave.
