Rapinoe was in a good position, which was the key aspect of the finish. She was perpindicular to the run, which allowed her to come onto the ball with her right foot. If she was a yard deeper or shallower, the chance would have been much harder.

on average... the USA is scoring its opening goal about 7.5 minutes into each match


the longest it's taken to get a 1st goal was against Thailand... where it took 12 minutes to score
