I guess last time, the late arrival may not have been the only factor in him not starting.

I think it's more likely that Bedoya's spectacular play is why he's back.

He needs the USMNT time to increase his stock. Landon is perfectly fine with his club, so he doesn't necessarily need the spotlight.

Bedoya could make a lot of himself in this tournament.

Is Donovan still sick?

He's seemed so blah the whole tournament. Just kind of there.. not doing anything.

Rangers is apparently looking at Bedoya. His continued run of form in the Gold cup definitely increases their opportunity to get a NON EU appeal for Alejandro.

Isn't the SPL under the discretion of the British Home Office? If it is, then he'll need a year's worth of caps to reach the 75% of A team games that's the minimum for a permit. He's played in 12 of 22 games since 2010. It'll be 2012 before he's probably eligible.

ETA: I'm too lazy to find out what "A" team games he's played. He actually might be eligible if he continues to play in the GC, though not making the WC will probably move the possibility of a move till 2012.

A club can form a special request. Benny Feilhaber got one for Derby county. He needs the MNT time to justify a special request.

I think Benny got one because his paternal grandfather was Austrian, thereby making him eligible through EU rules. That's how he was able to move to Germany. There isn't any special request (that I can see on the British Home Office webpage) teams can make other than the special talent visa, which are rarely given.

Cakes should be in the lineup IMO. I know Bedoya played well, but let's be honest. If we want to win this thing we need Cakes on form and he isn't going to get there coming off the bench. For my argument I present to you exhibit a:Fernando Torres. Hopefully this all works out and Murica gets it done. Frick Messico.

A source told MLSsoccer.com that this development has given longtime admirers Rangers new confidence that they can obtain him a UK work permit on appeal.
