No we didn’t. That’s not being “out athlete” they were a better skilled team We’d have great athletes but shite development still Now send those guys to Ajax’s academy. You got a point

Disagree 100%...if our best athletes were playing soccer domestically, we wouldn't need to send them anywhere. Imagine if the BEST players in the NFL and NBA were playing in the MLS and developed from a young age...the competition level would be off the fricking charts. AGAIN...that proves that our best athletes aren't playing soccer in America, thus the need to play overseas.

Prove it that Lebron would be a better player than CR7 or Messi if he was developed in the the United States by the USSF!

Prove me wrong...listen, i want the USA to win, but we simply DONT have the best athletes playing and you know it!! Stop kidding yourself..i mean has the world ever seen a player like Lebron James size and speed? Has the world ever seen a Goalie with the size and athleticism as Anthony Davis....ill wait! Could you fricking imagine Anthony Davis playing Goalie?!?!?!?

Athletic people aren’t only found in the US. Most every other country has their most athletic people playing soccer, but that isn’t the difference maker between us and them. The difference is in the academies and training/coaching.

This is a stupid take on why US soccer is what it is, and I wish some of you lunatics would go back to the MSB and tRant from whence you came.

Listen i honestly enjoy the debate, we could go on all day. I believe the OPs point and you don't. The fact is, is that what we have been doing in the past hasn't worked....at all. My theory is that until we get the best athletes to start playing soccer from a young age, we will keep spinning our tires. I hear your points, i just disagree with them. I will check back in later....

what we do doesn't work bc we have a pay to play system

and the coaching and funding at the grassroots levels is bad

Do you think the likes of Germany and France as saying the same things but about basketball?
If our best athletes didn’t play soccer would we be better at basketball?

My god...so let me get this strait...if what you are saying is true...the coaching, the system...all of that...you also wouldn't want the BEST athletes in America to play the sport. I just don't know what to say to that....
