I thought I saw on ESPN that Costa Rica can clinch with another win. Any chance we can still clinch Tuesday?

Yep. We clinch with a win and a Panama loss or draw.

Well, mexico wouldn't be able to catch us at that point and neither could jamaica. So if we win the next game and lose the 2 after, the worst we would do is tied for 3rd I believe (since panama can't get past the 16 we would have). Basically we need to win and have Panama and honduras tie for us to clinch.

I'd rather have Panama win but that's partially because I'm greedy and want Mexico out as well

As it stands, Mexico is staring down 4th and playing New Zealand in November. They play Panama in Azteca on October 11th, so that will be a MUST WIN for them to be assured of at least 4th.

I cannot believe Panama could not take 3 last night. Mexico would have been in the shitter.

A totally valid point. This could be EVEN WORSE for Mexico. A Panama win would have required a Honduras win on Tuesday specifically, but I still would have felt OK either way.

Bob Ley just reminded me on Twitter that Mexico will still present challenges (mainly because we've never faced them when they are this desperate). That, plus the lineup changes we will be forced into.

Last time around, they seeded the hosts and next Top 7 in the world rankings in Pot 1.
The other three pots were distributed based on region.

I'm not taking it for granted, in fact, I think it's 50-50 at this point.
That said, a loss doesn't doom us. Even with a loss, the worst we can be is third and may stay in second depending on how Honduras does.

Hell at this point I think I would be happy to just get one point out of this game and then regroup to beat Jamaica.
