Yedlin and Green both showed out tonight on an enormous stage. Jurgen is setting up for something big and I for one am excited. Howard was reduced to tears in the postgame interview with Schaap and I think it's cause he saw something special in this team.

Go, Go USA!

Did he say that? I didn't hear him say that.

Bacon did well too. I bet Mix would've been serviceable too. In 4 years I bet we'll be a top 10 team again.

A lot, bro. I've been drinking and feel like a parent right now.

Brooks, Green, Johnson, Yedlin, Gyau, Zelalem, Gonzo, Boyd, Bacon, Mix.

I know I'm forgetting people but remember these names.

I don't know man. We keep things close because we fight so hard and our hand-centric sports seem to trickle down to elite goalkeepers. But damnit, we are out-talented in every match we play. We'll never come within spitting distance of winning a World Cup until that changes. While Yedlin and Green showed promise, that's not enough to be truly optimistic for the foreseeable future.

After 4 years, a new coach, and a commitment to open competition for international spots, we lose 2-1 in the round of 16. Same as last time.

Can you explain why it's so bright?

Yedlin, Brooks, Green are promising young guys that will be entering their prime by 2018.

Altidore, Johnson, Bradley, Johannson, Besler, Bedoya should have have plenty of tread left on the tires. I can only think that the guys I listed above will be better players in 4 years than they are now

Green and Yedlin were both impressive (u-23 guys). Johnson had a great tournament at the age of 26. Bradley, to his standards, didn't have a great World Cup but he's only 26 as well. Jozy is only 24 and has 2 more World Cups in him (and a great year with Sunderland coming up but that's just my personal opinion). Other young guns: Terrence Boyd, Gedion Zelalem (when he gets citizenship), Gonzo, Mix, Brooks, and Bacon.

Lest not forget the effort of Jurgen. Just got an extension and the position of technical director. I'm very optimistic.

I don't really want to start a new thread for this, so I'll ask it here.

Who do we have coming through that can play DM? In 4 years, MB will be 30, so I think he'll be one of the DMs. Who can play next to him? Jones and Beckerman will be too old. I imagine Mix/Gil can slide into his attacking mid role.

Won't the other countries/powerhouses also be bringing up young, new talent as well ?

Zelalem is the biggest name I see coming through in that position. I don't know who started there in the olympic qualifying or the u-20 World Cup but perhaps someone else can enlighten us.
