Friday
1:30 PM | FC Bayern vs 'Gladbach | Allianz Arena
Saturday
8:30 | Bayer Leverkusen v Freiburg | BayArena
8:30 | FC Augsburg v BVB | SGL Arena
8:30 | Hannover v VfL Wolfsburg | AWD-Arena
8:30 | Hertha Berlin v Frankfurt | Olympiastadion
8:30 | TSG Hoffenheim v Nurnberg | Rhein-Neckar-Arena
11:30 | Braunschweig v Bremen | Eintracht-Stadion
Sunday
8:30 | Mainz v Stuttgart | Coface Arena
11:30 | Schalke v Hamburg | Veltins-Arena
The battle for the Champions League ought to be very good this year. I think the standings won't really change much from what they were last year
1. FC Bayern
2. BVB
3. FC Schalke
4. Bayer Leverkusen
That 3-4 spot is going to be awesome. Those teams could actually challenge for 2, maybe not 1st place but it wouldn't be the most shocking thing if they have a shot at the title after Christmas.
If Hueng-Min Son can consistently put together good performances, Leverkusen is going to have a very good attacking trio of Son, Kiessling, Sam. They also have a very good 3-man midfield of Lars Bender, Simon Rolfes, and Stefan Reinartz. Plus they just got Emre Can from Bayern who can play as a defensive mid and along the backline.
FC Schalke is finally has some backup help for Grass Huntelaar. They've been living and dying by his striking. Adam Szalai is an underrated striker, 15 goals last season in all comps. He'll be a great option to spell Grass.
The big deal is that this is now Julian Draxler's team. With Draxler and Goretzka they have possibly two of Germany's best prospects. They also have Max Meyer who will get more time this year and they signed Christian Clemens who is a promising young player. They're supposedly still looking for another LW but they have a pretty good attack with
----------------- Huntelaar -------------------
Clemens ---------- Draxler ------------ Farfan
With Neustadter, Jones, Goretzka and Marco Höger as a very solid set of holding mids.

Some preseason awards -
Best player: Franck Ribery
Best young player (U21): Julian Draxler
Best goalkeeper: Rene Adler -- this is a tough one because there's a ton of great keepers in the Bundi, I just think Hamburg is going lean on Adler the most this season.
Best defender: Neven Subotic
Best midfielder: Bastian Schweinsteiger
Best attacker: Robert Lewandowski
Best transfer: Felipe Santana BVB --> Schalke for 1m
Worst transfer: I don't know of any transfer that I hate right now.
Worst player: Teemu Pukki

was watching the scout nation youtube vid of Ginter just now. passing range seemed limited, but strong kid. had good positional awareness. nearly half the video was him vs. Dortmund. guess they put Freiburg under the kosh pretty good

Talk to me about Hamburg. Know Son's gone...what did they do this summer? Anything? Could they fight for fourth?

Haven't seen much of Ginter, I think he may project as a defender or at least defensive midfielder.

yeah, he's CB/DM prospect. played both CB slots and DM last year.

Tweezy and I both like Artjoms Rudnevs leading their line. I also really like Milan Badelj and obviously Rene Adler. I'm not a huge fan of their center backs. Westermann has a load of experience but I don't know how he'll hold up and I don't know much about Sobiech. I like their fullbacks though, Diemeier and Jansen.
Max Biester is a skilled young attacker, not a huge fan of Jiracek. If they can get a big season from van der Vaart and Rudnevs and if their defense can give Adler a bit of a break, I see them challenging for 5th. I don't think they're good enough to overtake Leverkusen or Schalke though.

In this thread...
Great analysis Hendo, hoping to follow a lot more of the league than I did last year when I just focused on one team...

It would be nice if we got some actual Bundesliga coverage. GolTV gives me hemorrhoids.

Only option for that seems to be Hallo Bundesliga...
And how hard is it for Cox get GolTV HD? Tired of having to adjust the aspect ratio for every match...

Same here, and ditto with Diekmeier. I got hooked on this crew on FIFA last year, but I started watching a good bit of them down the stretch. Knew they sold Son but that's it. Really wish he would've stayed. Also a fan of VdV.

I am all aboard the Hertha Berlin bandwagon. They've been one of my go-to FIFA Manager Mode teams and of course Brooks is in the squad.

No idea what to expect from Berlin. They should be a Bundesliga power. Berlin is a huge city and the Olympiastadion is great

It'd be wrong if you didn't.

its crazy for sure how they are not a legit top 4 club every year, they had crowds of 70k+ for div 2 games

I would have his babies.

I don't know how much money the club has but they should be able to spend enough to be at least challenge for the CL. It makes no sense.
