Deuce can play up top or as an inverted winger. Need good cover on that side but that's no different from other times when he's been played out wide.

Deuce's days as a winger are done.

When he was pushed out there under Bradley, he was more athletic and had the ability to help out in the defensive third at least a little bit. On top of that, we used more defensive-minded outside backs (Dolo, Boca, Hejduk, Spector, Bornstein ) under Bradley so we could afford Dempsey staying up on the wing.

Now, Dempsey is older and doesn't give a flying frick about even pretending to help out on defense. Plus, under Klinsmann who is trying to push an "attack, attack, attack" mentality, our outside backs (Fab, Yedlin, Chandler, DMB) have either played on the wing in the past or could just as easily play there now.

Honestly, I hope we have a better option than 35 year old Dempsey in 2018. He might move under two miles a game at that point.

Yeah, when I mentioned playing those three in midfield I was just thinking of ways to keep them all on the field together. It will be interesting to see where Jurgen plays Deuce tonight. I don't see him making a huge contribution in 2018, and the same goes for Jones, who will be 36.

Old Jones may be a blessing in disguise. He will be forced to be more positionally disciplined.

Maybe I am wrong, but I would think Mix would play further up than Bradley, not beside him.

They are both box to box guys in my mind, although Mix is stronger in attack and Bradley is stronger in defense.

I have only seen mix with the USMNT, so my view of him may be limited, but it seems like he can play the final ball very well and get it to Jozy to use his hold up play.

Don't hold your breathe. I love Jones, but that isn't his strength.

That make a lot of sense. I could see Bradley making runs off of Mix and finishing.
