Good for that guy.
Not sure I would make a sign that said "We want our nooner at Mizzou in November"

Well I’m assuming that the most valuable clubs in the world are doing what’s in their financial best interest. I’m also assume they are all very sure this move will be more advantageous then where they were.
What they are trying to do is to NFL-ize the sport, to keep a consistent revenue stream to combat the fact that the American owners do not want to use their own money to fund transfers, something that Roman and MBZ and Hamad Al Thani are willing to do. That's the long and short of it. Madrid is in because they are a fan-owned club where the socios expect immediate results. Barca is in it due to the fact they are 1 billion in debt due to a decade of extremely poor transfers and forgetting their roots. The Italian clubs are in it to try to keep up with the bigger money clubs, but they suffer from league-wide problems.
quote:
You seem to be suggesting otherwise. The difference is I understand my limitations and defer to people with greater understanding of their own business.
I am 100% certain that Kroneke doesn't understand the sport. He's made that utterly clear, time and again.
quote:
You can certainly claim that this move is bad for soccer. But to suggesttthat it’s done out of a preponderance of ignorance of the business interests at every single one of the largest and most successful soccer clubs in the world is perhaps the most hubristic thing I’ve ever heard.
It's not done out of ignorance. The Americans want to NFL-ize the sport. But Man U was producing massive revenues and paying the exorbitant transfer prices before the Glazers got involved. The Glazers have actually taken money out of the club. The Glazers, Kroneke, and FSG all bought finished products. They bought the three top clubs in England in terms of titles and cups. They didn't build shite. FSG was saved by the Jurgen hire, and lost all that goodwill they developed through this. If not for these particular owners involvement, none of these clubs would ever be involved in anything like the super league. Again, these clubs were self-sustaining, and built their brand and image without any injection from these American owners. The problems with all three almost singularly began when they began to be involved, though FSG arguably saved Liverpool from Hicks and Gillette's incredibly poor ownership period.
They have consistently proved they don't understand the sport, and now are trying to make it like something they do understand to negate the fact they are in over their heads. I'm not the only one who says this, the various supporters trusts, club legends, and others have said the same thing. There is a utterly simple reason why these clubs don't subsidize any of the other clubs, and it is related directly to the product. In fact, you could argue convincingly that the EU, FIFA, UEFA, and various FA's have subsidized the big clubs, but before I explain what that reason is, I need to make sure you understand what the product is. What is the product? You can even be wrong. I can explain everything extremely clearly, but I need some active participation.

That was actually their reaction when they found out that Pulisic is in the starting lineup today.

This is like California splitting in two but the rich side insisting they still get access to all of the natural resources e.g water.
The other side has every right to turn round and tell them to frick off.

Roman Abramovich decided Chelsea could not go ahead with joining the ESL and, together with the board, he gave the green light for the club to start preparing documentation to pull out.

Kroenke and Perez will probably be the last two holding on.
Posted on 4/20/21 at 1:13 pm to GeauxTigers2020
It honestly never made sense for Man City or Chelsea to be in this at all.

It will be interesting to see how the 3 American owners handle this
I’m also pretty sure the “our job is to maximise profits” quote was from Levy aswell

I hope we can expel Kroneke from the club. The dumb frick could have supported Wenger with a direct cash injection at any point of his ownership, and instead let that great man suffer for no reason. frick him forever.

Just expel all the American owners. You can't let this stand. Man U, Pool, and Arsenal were big clubs before those three leeches got involved. They can easily be big clubs after. I don't even understand the point of the Glazers, to be honest. What is the point of you, Avram?
