Anyway, Barça takes this one. Piqué is starting, great news for RM.

However, Benzema es un puto desastre, and Morata isn´t up for a match of this level.

Isco should get the start, if not, I´m PO´d, as they need his movement, vision, and ball movement.

I envision a quasi major Pépe-Neymar trifulca, as well. RM will probably be playing with 10 for awhile.

Didn't look into it but saw that Ancelotti was considering a front three of Ronaldo-Bale-di Maria via the Guardian

Sucks

Well, it'll be cool to watch Benzema disappear until he gets yanked in like the 60th

My likely unpopular opinion is that if I could take one of Bale or Di Maria, I'd take Di Maria in a heartbeat.

wm, I hear ya, and most do. DiMaría is all heart, he´s got that going for him. I think Bale is, as well. However, he´s not been able to prove it, yet.

Ancelotti just stated that DiMaría is not of the technical level of Özil, but that his level of activity and sacrifice, has no price.

This Clásico doesn´t really look great for RM, as it´s a side which is rebuilding, but Barça certainly don´t look formidable, either.

Los Clásicos don´t seem to respect the norm, many a time, as well. This could be good.

Could be.

It's not that crazy, and I am not a big fan of di Maria

Di Maria when he's playing well is one of the very best players in the world. At his worst, he's a frustratingly stupid player

Real is certainly much more of a work in progress but I agree that Barca seems to be struggling a bit to establish itself with a slightly different dynamic as it works in younger players under Tata.

That both are more unsettled than in the past few seasons adds a bit to the interest/drama for me.

Looking forward to it.

he´s been in a state of grace this year, and I´m hoping we won´t see this. I don´t think we will, as he´s busting his arse to keep Bale off the pitch.

Yeah, di Maria is in fantastic form and that coupled with Bale not being fully fit really has kept Bale off so far, it seems.

At this point, Benz has been sufficiently pointless that Ancelotti could probably find a way to keep Bale, di Maria, and Ronaldo on the field provided all are healthy and playing well. Most of Benz's allure is that he can peel off and vacate space for Ronaldo/other attacking players, and I think that Ancelotti can replicate that with those three attacking players.

As mentioned earlier, Morata isn't completely ready, but it seems like he can run around a lot and replicate the Callejon (who had a really useful purpose under Mourinho) role pretty well. Jese can come on for extra quality, and Isco is versatile enough to be moved around and retain his effectiveness.

Things could get pretty complicated if Benzema returns to 2011-2012 form, but as of now, not sure that that's going to happen.

Regardless, Ancelotti seems to be moving in the right direction for a successful (considering the standards required by Real Madrid) season across multiple competitions, eventually.
