wasn't that his downfall at 'pool?

It all went belly up when the owners (Hicks & Gilette) stopped backing him in the transfer market (because of their debt)... He got the sack in June and we were bought by FSG in October... which saved us from going into administration..

I think he's one of the most overrated Managers in a long time. Well get to see how good he is. Also, let's not act like he's doing a Harry or Big Sam rescue, Newcastle are 1 point out of rescue, not 8-10 back, this late in season.

IMO, Rafa is not a quick fix manager (why taking the job now is odd).. He wants total control to build things his way.. If the owner backs him and lets him implement his team... could be a very good fit.

a bit too little too late to really do this.

Not really. All just depends how team responds. We did it with dicanio late, poyet earlier, and advocatt really late. Somebody out of us, castle, and Norwich is going to be safe. Just depends who shits the bed the least.

At the very least it totally changes the atmosphere with the supporters, who are all in on Rafa. How much that will impact the players I have no idea.
